Its been long I thought of writing something about my place Thrippunithura. I am settled here for past 8 years and seems to be one of the best place in Ernakulam. Here are some more information which I found in internet. Feel free to call me for more details or questions
Thrippunithura is the Land of Temples. Not only just temples, the way of living, culture are all different. Very calm and quiet unlike other parts of the city; still you have access to all part of the city and facilities.
About
Thrippunithura is a part of Kochi city comes under Municipality administration. Thrippunithura was the capital of the erstwhile Kingdom of Cochin. The descendants of the Cochin royal family still live here. The Hill Palace situated near Thripunithura was the palace of Maharaja of Cochin, the ruler of Kingdom of Cochin.
You can see many interesting stories behind the name Thrippunithura, but I believe it came from Thiru Poonithura, Poonithura stands for Port (facing sea or seaport)- Thiru shows respect. I also heared that the name has been given by the King when they made Thripunithura as the capital of Kochi.
Interesting places to visit
Sree Poornathrayesa Temple :- one of the famous temples in our India . I dont think I need to explain more about this place.
